Photo by Thøger Dixgaard Summer’s hit us like a truckload of hot tarmac, and it’s brought along a new mini-festival to kick things off with Aarhus Volume, a literal bloc-party that will be taking place at the creative/alternative powerstation of Godsbanen from Saturday to Sunday, 11th-12th of June. That is, from midday Saturday to midnight Sunday. The daytime-part of it all is completely free (there goes your last excuse!) and the line-up is almost as diverse as the Canadian government, although a bit short on women. Spanning from the straight up danish rap by Artige Ardit, the comedy trip-hop by Yung Coke and the oddball lyrics from two hazy old-boys Jonny Hefty & Jøden, over the smooth soothing electro-soul of Thøger Dixgaard who has launched a solid solo career after his long run with Flødeklinikken, to Debre Damo Dining Orchestra’s etnojazz. It looks like chillin’ out while bobbing your head will be more obligatory than optional. For a more rock-loving audience that long for the heyday of The Doors, but still like the Blue Van of today, Aarhus-quartet Nava might just hit the spot.
